How to Create Retirement Journal Entries

    Writing in Your Journal

    • 1). Make a journal appointment with yourself at the same time every day, maybe when you wake or when you go to bed. Decide on a minimum length of time that you'd like to write, say five minutes. You may write more than five minutes or more than once a day, but make sure you set some minimum guidelines for yourself.

    • 2). Leave your notebook and pen or pencil together in the same place every day, in a comfortable spot for you to write. You want to look forward to the writing process, so make it as comfortable as you can.

    • 3). Begin writing whatever comes to your mind. Try your hardest not to censor or edit what you write as you are writing. If you are stuck, begin by writing, "I don't know what to write because...." and continue the sentence.

    • 4). Continue to write every day at the same time and place. If you can't for some reason, make sure you write for the minimum amount of time later in the day.
