How to Receive a Pass in Roller Hockey

  • 1). See the pass coming.

  • 2). Adjust your speed or positioning to be in the right place to receive the pass.

  • 3). Keep your bottom hand loose on the stick. This allows you to make quick last-second adjustments.

  • 4). Reach out with your stick to receive the pass, keeping the entire bottom of the blade in contact with the ground.

  • 5). Back the blade away as the puck is about to meet it - move the blade slightly slower than the speed of the puck so that the puck is gently cradled in the blade. If you receive a pass with a stiff blade, it will cause the puck to bounce away from you.

  • 6). Begin dribbling immediately.
